The Slate card from Chase MasterCard is a card designed to help cardholders pay down their balances. The system is easy, allowing users to customize their plan and then the progress can be viewed on their monthly statements. The card is easy to apply for and everything is personalized, from APRs to the way you pay down your balance.
The card is easy to obtain. An online application is completed, filling in basic personal information. It will ask some basic questions regarding bankruptcy and your history of delinquency on other accounts. From there, you'll enter your income sources and you're on your way to getting a Chase MasterCard. The results are virtually instant, so there's no waiting around to find out if you've been approved or not.
The card itself has no annual fee. This means that what you spend, plus interest, is all that you're paying. Depending on your credit is what will determine the APR. If you've got excellent or really good credit, you'll have a lower APR. If you've only got average credit, you'll have a slightly higher APR. The card allows you to carryover balances from other accounts, too, being able to benefit from the Slate plan on all of your debt, depending on the credit limit you're approved for.
The card program is called Blueprint and is focused on helping people to save on interest and pay balances off faster. In today's economy, Chase is aware that credit cards are often hurting people, so they've devised a system to help. There's the option of paying the balance in full and avoiding paying interest altogether. If that's not something that's feasible, there's also paying down the balance by entering goal dates to have it paid off by, or a monthly amount that you can afford and they calculate from there. There's also the ability to pay off larger purchases separately from some of the day to day expenditures. The monthly statement shows spending trends and also gives you updates on how you're coming along with reducing your overall balance.
The card gives you all the tools you need in order to be successful in paying off your balance. They understand that certain purchases on credit cards are a necessity, but they also know that paying them off and paying interest rates can be a burden. They've created an effective way to manage the debt and make payments that actually help to pay down the balance. This way, it doesn't feel like you are paying and paying without ever seeing the balance go lower. Chase gives you the control that others don't.
