Capital One Offers Largest Air Miles Bonus Ever

Capital One is aggressively marketing their Venture Rewards Card by offering what is possibly the largest air miles reward in the card issuers history.

New cardholders have the potential to earn a bonus of 110,000 air miles.

The Venture Card offers to match up to 100,000 air miles earned with competitor’s card in addition to the standard 10,000 air mile bonus awarded to cardholders spending a minimum of $1000 in the first three months.

This allows Capital One customers to obtain up to 110,000 bonus air miles.

The Venture Visa Card offers cardholders Capital One’s normal sign up bonus of 10,000 air miles after spending $1,000 in the first three months of holding the card.

Capital One will then match one for one any miles, or points, earned with a selection of competitors reward cards including the Alaska Airline Visa Card, the American Airlines Card, the Delta SkyMiles card from American Express, the Virgin America Visa, and many others.

Capital One is also offering 1,000 Venture miles per A= rewards credit with the AirTran A+ Rewards Visa Card and 1,200 Venture miles per Rapid Rewards credit on the Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa card.

The “Match My Miles Challenge” will run until May 2013 or until Capital One has awarded one billion air miles, whichever comes sooner. This aggressive marketing promotion aims to pull consumers away from their existing credit card. No matter how happy cardholders are with the current card provider, the lure of such large rewards may well be enough to tempt them over to Capital One.

If a cardholder managed to rack up the maximum 110,000 mile bonus, they are getting $1,100 worth of air travel for doing very little. There is no annual fee in the first year and the minimum spent is just $1000 in the first three months.

The Venture Card awards 2 miles for every dollar spent. The miles are worth one cent each when redeemed towards airline tickets, hotel rooms, car rentals, or vacation packages. The card does carry an annual fee of $59 but this is waived for the first year.

The interest rate is variable based on the individual’s credit history and there are no foreign currency transaction fees.

There is no upper limit to the number of miles which can be earned and the rewards do not ever expire so long as the credit card account remains open and in good standing.
