The Visa Platinum from Credit One Bank® gives individuals with fair credit the opportunity to have the benefits of a standard platinum credit card. To apply, consumers are able to visit the Credit One® website to pre-qualify for the card or they can call customer service to see if they pre-qualify for the card. While pre-qualification does not guarantee that a person will be approved, this step does create a doorway for a full application to be completed so that a full credit review can be conducted. Both the pre-qualification and full application processes can be completed in minutes. The status of the application can then be checked online. However, approval does not typically take long.

Once approved, cardholders are given the option to design their own card with personal photos or they can choose from a number of default designs. The credit line is rather generous and can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, such as online, in stores, and for telephone transactions. Management of the account is also easy with online account management. After creating a username and password, users are able to view their credit limit, balance, and charges to the account. The online payment option allows payment of the bill to be made at the push of a button. Once the payment is processed, it is recorded with the rest of their payment history that can be viewed at any time.

Most importantly, users can access the account from any computer connected to the Internet or through the browser of their mobile phone to ensure there is enough money on the card to make a purchase. If there is no available Internet, a 24/7 hotline can be called. The ability to easily obtain this information brings about peace of mind that the card will not be declined at the point of sale due to a lack of funds. This can save a great deal of embarrassment when at the checkout of a retail facility. Users can be aware of card status as long as they have access to the Internet.

If the account remains in good standing, credit line increases can be earned. Credit line increases are beneficial in a number of ways. One of those ways is having more funds available for when they are needed. For instance, someone on vacation who may have issues with their primary funding source may be able to turn to their credit card to carry them through the rest of the vacation. There are some instances in which bank debit cards are locked for suspected fraudulent activity when used a lot in different states while traveling. While this is typically prevented by calling the bank to inform them of the trip - which should also be done for credit cards - it can still happen. Having enough available credit on the card can prevent many problems.

Furthermore, the card is affordable with a low annual fee. The set-up and maintenance fee is also lower than the industry standard so that cardholders have more credit available rather than most of it being consumed by fees. This means that it will not take one lump sum payment or 6 or more monthly payments before the card has enough available credit on it to be useful. Overall, this is not a card that "fees" its cardholders to death, as it has a late fee, but there is no over limit fee because purchases cannot exceed the available dollar amount on the card. As for the APR, it varies based upon the market and the market depends upon the Prime Rate. Nonetheless, the APR is a typical rate for a fair credit-based credit card and it fluctuates accordingly.

Additional features include a credit score tracking feature that is free to all cardholders using online account management. There is also credit protection that cardholders can opt into to protect themselves against the unexpected. Job loss and illness are two ways individuals can benefit from credit protection, as the program covers up to six benefit payments. The charge for the program is very minimal for every $100 of the balance. This is just one of the many features and benefits that Credit One® offers their cardholders.
