Discover Student Open Road credit card is designed to fit into the life style of the average student. It's a credit card for who haven't really gotten used to having a credit card in the wallet.
A mid term introductory APR period is applied towards purchases and balance transfers. Afterwards, purchases incur moderately low interest. Balance transfers and cash advances incur a 3% transfer or cash advance fee respectively.
Card members are protected from unauthorized transactions arising from leaky databases. Secure account numbers much differ from the credit card numbers are used whenever purchasing items online. Victims of identity theft or fraud receive advice on what steps to take from seasoned fraud specialists.
Online account management and other internet related services put the card member in total control. Soft copy financial statements available online help card members keep track of expenses charged to the card over a period.
Email messages are delivered to the card members email address reminding such members to pay up before the due date. Live phone support is available round the clock to answer queries.
Cash back rewards program. Card members earn at least 1% on virtually every purchase. New members earn double cash bonus (2% per transaction) on Grocery purchases worth up to $1,000. Gas and auto maintenance less than $100 earn 5% each month. Cash back bonuses do not expire except when the card account becomes inactive. There's no restriction in form of a yearly limit.
Cash earned is useful for redeeming cash, and merchandise. Rewards are redeemed in $20 increments. Purchases at over 100 merchants and retailers are discounted using cash back bonuses already earned. Members take advantage of ShopDiscover, an exclusive online shopping site to gain higher cash back and more discounts. Purchases on the site earn discounts between 5% and 20%.
