The UPSide Student Prepaid Visa Card is a credit card that has been designed for high school and college students to provide them with a safer way to carry cash. Instead of providing a cash allowance, parents can fund the card as often as they need to in order to keep up with the expenses of their student. The card provides three options based upon the needs of the student.

There is an Upside Clear that is fee-free and allows students to use their card like a credit card but does not allow for visits to the ATM machine. There is also Upside Access with is a low monthly rate and includes access to the ATM machine. Finally, parents can choose Upside Edge for an annual fee that allows free direct deposit as well as use of the ATM machine.

The card can be customized based upon the needs of the student. Depending upon whether a student has a job or not, the card can be funded by their own paychecks using Upside Edge. Otherwise, parents have the ability to add money to the card through their bank account or by transferring money from one of their credit cards.

The prepaid Visa can be used anywhere Visa is accepted all over the globe, online or off. This allows students the flexibility to buy what they need when they want to buy it. Further, the card is better than a standard credit card because the student cannot go into debt. They will only be able to spend as much as what's on the card. There are no late fees and no payments to make. The card is only valid for the amount that is already loaded onto the card.

There is online account management with the credit card, allowing students to track their expenses. Students can find out how much they've spent, what their balance is and, depending on the plan, write checks online. There is even spending alerts on some of the plans to tell students when they are close to reaching their limit.

The credit card can be signed up for online based upon the needs of the student and the parent. Once the plan is chosen, it is possible to upgrade at any time. It is a card that can be issued at a very early age and then modified as the student gets older and becomes more responsible with their money. Further, the card allows for protection of funds. The money is always 100% safe, unlike cash, which is gone once it is lost. It is a prepaid card that has been designed to meet the needs of high school and college students so that they can be financially responsible.
